Freeball Football

1
As you may be able to tell from blogger buddy AOM's posts, Football season is upon us. And as much as I love to promote letting your boys hang loose and enjoy some well-deserved freedom on weekends

Our newest blogger buddy, Andrew, at Fuel for a Man's Fire, points out that quite a few football teams have made the switch from jocks and cup to freeball lycra.

I'll agree with Andrew (and everyone else) that it sure provides an added value of interest while watching these guys freeball during the games. And the lycra keeps them from jostling and getting bruised.

But, I cannot condone the risk of trauma that may occur to said balls. The probability of serious injury to their balls far outweighs the enjoyment. All it takes is that inadvertent knee to the crotch, or the foot to the groin and the players could lose a nut. Or both nuts.

I'll save you the gory pictures of busted balls. The NFL and college, even high schools are facing battles some serious lawsuits over helmets and head trauma. They're really opening themselves up for trouble when the players realize their nuts have suffered too much trauma to work. Suffice it to say that joining

should not mean on the sports playing field. If you want to keep your boys

- and keep them safe and in good working condition, leave the freeballing to more appropriate times.
